wood frame and wood cladding

Black Cross, Newquay, Cornwall.

A fantastic design with so many interesting features, set in the Cornish countryside.

This project came to us in a hurry, the client had placed the order with a timber frame company that was consequently closed down. The clienty suddenly needed to find a frame very quickly, we did the design process in about a month and then immediately manufactured the house. It was an extremely quick turn around. We even designed the stairs in this house. The clients were very nice to deal with, which normally makes the project flow nicely.

This comprehensive set of images shows the build  'from the ground up - and down'.

swiss style timber frame building

The house itself was 184mm deep frame - packed with slab insulation. The roof was quite tricky to make and even trickier to erect. The erectors Mike and Ryan did a very good job - especially with the central height section. This section required them to install posts that were over twenty feet long very accurately and then rest the cantilevering beams onto the posts. This is no mean feat.

Altogether a job that we are very proud of.

The concept and design drawings are used to produced detailed CAD 3d image structural designs.

On the design computer these 3D images can be rotated and the view angle changed to check every structural and design requirement before the frame is built.

Become familiar with the requirements of a build by viewing these images, a great source of information for the self-builder.

The building requirements are the same whether it is a small bungalow or a block of flats.
