Goodwick - on three floors using a timber and steel frame, on a hillside.
This house was a coming home for Chad Young after a long absence from Western
Wales. Chad and her husband Keith got in touch with Mick Oconnor of Squirrel Designs of Chagford, Devon.
The power of google.
Mick managed to achieve planning permission for what is an excellent design with the house clinging to the side of a fairly steep hillside. This gave the Project Manager, Pete Bennett and his team a few headaches.

We were awarded the timber frame contract and immediately engaged the services of Peter Jackson from the Structural Engineers Sands Consultants, Exeter. He was able to scheme the very complicated steel and timber frame structure that gives the building the appearance of floating off the edge of the slope.
The finished product is amazing - a credit to the skills of the builders and
the vision of the the Clients and Architect.
A very difficult build in every sense of the word. Great result!!!
