Set in the beautiful Devon countryside close to a small village in the Teign Valley.
The West end of the Barn Conversion.
A large stone built barn conversion with a natural slate roof.
Using curved Glulam supports as a feature.
Higher Ashton was a project that we undertook for the father and son team Robin and Charlie. They purchased the barn in a very run down state and obtained Planning Permission to convert into a dwelling.
Mick O'connor of Squirrel Design of Chagford was the designer and had schemed up the roof design concept. We modeled the roof on our computers and then engaged the structural engineer Neil Bentley of Bentley Designs to analyse the roof members.
Following fabrication the heavy roof members were craned into place and within a few weeks we had the building in the dry.
This property was eventually offered on the market - and will be someones superb home.
Westructure Timber frame would like to thank the following for their contribution to the project.
Glulam Timber Systems for the supply of the glulams.
Waterside Services for erecting the glulams on site.
Mic O'conner of Squirrels, Chagford-Arhitectural Design.
Neil Bentley Structural Engineer.
Special thanks to the clients Robin and Charlie Murray for having faith.
